Our learners will be equipped to flourish in community with others, regardless of the differences that inevitably set us apart. Our mission is to cultivate curiosity, independence, and confidence through personalized learning experiences. ELC will honor each child’s God-ordained and unique path by providing guidance tailored to their individual strengths, interests, and goals. Our Leaders

Meet Abigail

Our family has been homeschooling in some way since 2020, with at least one of our three children learning at home each year. We’ve tried just about every option along the way—public school, private school, online learning, and homeschool. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education–Deaf and Hard of Hearing from Illinois State University and enjoy working with students of all abilities and backgrounds. I believe there’s no one right way to educate a child, and there is not a one-size-fits-all method for education. I value flexibility, understanding, and meeting each learner where they are. Outside of school, you’ll usually find me involved in my kids’ activities, including 4-H, hockey, dance, baseball, and figure skating. From coaching or livestreaming games to planning sewing workshops and community service projects, I enjoy staying as involved as time allows. I also currently serve on the board of the Figure Skating Club of the Quad Cities. If I happen to have a little free time, I love curling up with a good book or playing board games.

Meet Megan

Our family's homeschooling journey began in 2020. Along the way, I’ve helped coordinate a variety of homeschool co-ops and discovered joy in building community and facilitating meaningful friendships for both kids and parents. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in English Education and consider passing on to my kids a love for reading my greatest success as their teacher. I whole-heartedly believe that education is most effective when personalized and that kids learn best when they are given freedom in their learning journey. As a mom to 4, I enjoy supporting my children as they explore entrepreneurship, creativity, music, and athletics. In my somewhat limited free time, you’ll usually find me reading, running, or baking something to share.

A Day at ELC

Evergreen Learning Collective meets at 710 23rd St, Rock Island, IL.

Our days begin with the news and current events, when students are given the opportunity to discuss what they find intriguing and relevant.
We continue our mornings with our unit studies, during which there is a mix of direct instruction, guided activities and time to work independently towards their culminating projects. Past units from this year include Mysteries, Local History, and Myths and Legends
P.E. includes group activities, outside when the weather allows.
After lunch, students have time to work on their personal studies, When these are finished, they enjoy playing a variety of games and activities.
Periodically, additional opportunities are offered for music, art or other creative outlets, such as sewing, or helping with service projects.
